About Us

Our Origin

Our first development in Canterbury carried the name Te Ara, the pathway. A pathway creates direction and opens the way forward. Te Aka represents the next stage of that journey: the means by which people can take hold of an opportunity and rise.

Across Tainui and Ngāi Tahu traditions, Tāwhaki is associated with a great ascent from the earthly realm toward higher knowledge. His journey required purpose, perseverance and a means of connection between where he stood and where he sought to go. That connecting form inspires the name Te Aka — the climbing vine.

An aka (vine) begins from the whenua (land). It takes hold, reaches outward and upward, and creates a connection between one level and the next. It is supported by what is already there, while opening access to new possibilities. This reflects the purpose of Te Aka.

The land has an established rural history. Te Aka carries that foundation forward by creating a new rural business park: a place where purchasers can secure land, build for their own needs and shape the next stage of their enterprise.

Our Ownership

Te Aka Business Park is being developed by Te Aka Limited, wholly owned by Taharoa Holdings Limited, which is in turn wholly owned by Taharoa C Incorporation.

Taharoa C Incorporation exists to hold and grow value on behalf of its shareholders, across generations. Te Aka Business Park is one expression of that responsibility: an opportunity to convert land into lasting, intergenerational value, guided by the same principles that have always underpinned the Incorporation's stewardship, care for the land, care for the people connected to it, and a long view of what prosperity means.

This is more than a commercial development for its owners. It is whenua being put to considered, productive use, developed with the same discipline and long-term thinking that has guided its stewardship for generations, and delivered for the benefit of those it belongs to.

Our Purpose

Rolleston is one of Canterbury's fastest-growing districts, and that growth shows no sign of slowing. Yet as thousands of new residential sections have entered the market, commercial and office land has not kept pace, leaving a real and growing gap between where people live and where they can work, trade, and build businesses close to home.

Te Aka Business Park exists to meet that gap directly. It is designed as a place for business, industry, and investment to thrive, grounded in the same values the name carries: connection between people and place, movement and forward momentum, strength drawn from the land itself, and the opportunity to build something of lasting value.

This land is now being shaped into the next chapter of its story, a commercial heart for a growing district, developed with the same intent that has always guided it: creating enduring value for the community it serves.
